CYNTHIA JOHNSON BIANCHETTA
artist . dancer . photographer . designer . curator . teacher
I am an artist, dancer, photographer, designer, workshop leader and an independent curator. I have a deep love for beauty, creating lovely peaceful, artful spaces and beautiful natural gardens. My whole life has been devoted to creating art and beauty, guided by my spiritual connection.
I am a homeowner from Big Sur, where my fine art photographer husband Daniel and I, have made our home and studios for the past 26 years (I have been a resident of Big Sur for 33 years). We have a beautiful home on the cliffs above the ocean there and our home and guesthouse have been featured in the Big Sur Garden Tours. Our guesthouse is a B&B vacation rental.
We have a second home location in the rustic countryside of Carmel Valley where I spend time in my art studio, and have a teaching studio for abstract acrylics, collage & encaustic paintings. I have taught art workshops for Esalen Institute in Big Sur, ARTISTA in Carmel, CA and for The Taos Institute of Arts in New Mexico.
Also there, we have a movement loft where I teach small classes and offer private sessions in the practices of Continuum, Authentic Movement, & The 5 Rhythms Ecstatic Dance. I offer a series I call “Moving with The Beloved”, which is influenced by these practices combined with meditation, that I offer in various locations as a workshop, currently at The Center for Spiritual Awakening in Pacific Grove, CA. (look under classes for more info).
My artwork has been collected locally, nationally and internationally. My work appeals often to architects, designers and serious art collectors. I have had a painting added to the recent acquisitions of The Crocker Museum in Sacramento in the George Y. Blair Collection. My artwork is represented by Gallery North in Carmel, CA.
In the past I co-created the first international museum for film, photography and video in San Diego’s Balboa Park, and served as assistant director & curator. I then moved to this area to become the director of the Weston Gallery in Carmel, CA. I was on the Board of Trustees in the Carmel Sunset Center’s Center for Photographic Art for a 10-year period. And I continue to do work as an independent curator, and also offer my services for charity benefit events. I have curated for the Monterey Museum of Art, The Pacific Grove Museum and the PG Art Center.
My spiritual life is woven into all my creative endeavors informing my work. I am an ordained minister for The Center for Spiritual Healing, offering spiritual healing sessions, meditations & affirmative prayer. I am a prayer practitioner for The Center for Spiritual Awakening, a Religious Science Church (please note, NOT Scientology) in Pacific Grove, CA. where I also serve as an occasional emcee for Sunday Service and teach my classes, "Prayer from the Heart", "What Would Love Do", and "Moving with the Beloved".
I love what I do and having the opportunity to lead a creative life. Hopefully this will give you greater insight into who I am personally, spiritually & professionally.
